My Go To Deep Conditioners
I decided to go natural in 2009. I had begun transitioning from relaxers to natural and my hair was around chin length. One day out of the blue, I walked into a barber shop and without hesitation asked him to shave my head. To this day, it was the biggest impulse decision I have ever made and I could not have been more proud to rock my shaved head. The natural hair movement was really just starting to be a thing and I saw more and more women taking the plunge to wear the low styles! I loved going into the barbershop and seeing women embracing their short tapered cuts.
Around 2011, I began to grown my hair back. I was doing the bare minimum for my 3C/4A curls and deep conditioner was the furthest thing from my mind. My hair was growing but would hit a growth plateau when it got chin length. Out of annoyance, I would cut it short again and “start all over”. I have done three big chops and my last one was June 2018. This time around I made the commitment to really care for my hair. The biggest difference started happening when I started deep conditioning my hair weekly! When I stuck to my hair routine my hair began to flourish! Whenever anyone asks me about hair care, I always suggest doing a deep condition once a week!
Deep conditioning treatments and or hair mask treatments are not the same as applying regular conditioner. There is not really a difference between Deep Conditioning and or Hair Mask. If you have dry, frizzy or damaged hair from heat, color, or chemicals then my friend you NEED to be deep conditioning weekly. I deep condition every Friday for 30 minutes. I apply it to my hair, add my shower cap and then go the extra step to apply heat! I use my Hot Head cap from Thermal Hair Care. The cap is filled with heat producing Flax Seeds that you can put into the microwave and heat 45 seconds on both the inside and outside. The Hot Head is made with love and hand sewn from their seamstress. I can not rave enough about my hot head and I look forward to deep conditioning every week with it.
