10 Ways to be more productive in the New Year.
How are we only two weeks into the New Year and it already feels like a complete $h!t Storm! Hopefully… the storm will pass and we will not have a repeat of the Mess of 2020. In the meantime, prioritizing personal safety and protecting your mental health should be priority number one. Speaking of mental health, How are you doing? Share in the comment section below.
Small Steps to maintaining your sanity and health while being productive in the New Year is key! A great way to do this is to TURN OFF THE NEWS and guard your mind. Not everyone is worth discussing todays current events with especially if they have different views. Going head to head with someone will only leave you feeling drained.
This is a great time to hone in, buckle down and be productive. Whether it is starting a new business or learning a new skill there is nothing you can not do if you put your mind to it! I am off of maternity leave and ready to hit the ground running this year. My Goals are pretty massive and I have to stay the course and stay focused if I want them to come to fruition.
Here are a couple of ideas to stay productive in the New Year
Stick to a routine.
Decide on a time to wake up every morning , plan out what you are having to eat, map out your things to get done and have a set bed time. Of course leave time for your self care, whatever that may be (Netflix, Baths, etc). I work from home and sticking to a schedule and routine has been major for my productivity.
Social Media Detox
Trust me, I know. I love me some Instagram just like the next person but mindless scrolling is a waste of time. If you have gone into your phone to do one thing and find that 15 minutes have passed and somehow you have ended up scrolling in the IG app…my friend, it is time to take a break. If you are not ready to do a complete detox for a few days, tell yourself you are only spending a certain amount of time on social media. Set the timer on your phone to tell you when have reached that time. Social media is a major part of my business but I allow myself 90 minutes each day to be on. Spend time connecting with family and friends instead. Check in on someone you haven’t talked to in a few months to see how they are doing!
Also, take this time to unfollow pages that don’t serve you. If anything online does not soothe you or add value to your life, remove it! That also includes influencers who paint the picture perfect life with picture perfect homes and bodies that every time you see their page, make you feel like crap. Hit that unfollow boo!
Declutter, Organize, and Clean your home
I went on a binge cleaning my closet and got rid of 4 bags of clothing, shoes and bags. I donated it all to Housing Works and I felt GREAT! I for the first time in 2 years could actually see what was in my closet! That dress that you got for that one trip to Miami and wore it once because the strap does something weird…GET RID OF IT! Declutter your phone, delete emails, organize your pantry, clean out the junk drawer and start fresh. I bet you will find tons of things you don’t need anymore that do not serve you!
Home workouts
Since most places are still shut down including gyms, creating your at home gym could save you in the long run from packing on the extra Quarantine Pounds. Im trying to step out this summer lookin snatched and summer time fine. I started doing Beachbodies on Demand and let me tell you I love the 30 minute workouts. I feel stronger and healthier and they variety of workouts from HIIT to Yoga to Meditation gives me everything I need. If you are looking for an at home workout…I got you! Click here and lets get it going!
Start a Side Hustle
According to INC.com, the US has over 27 million Entrepreneurs. Whether it be a passion project or a side hustle, the average entrepreneur has 5 streams of income. That idea that you have had for over 2 years, no time like right now to start it! Youtube, Podcast, starting an online store could all potentially bring your more income if you iron out the details and go for it!
Start a BLOG
Whoever said blogging is dead doesn’t read blogs. Whether you are blogging to create a stream of income or blogging about personal topics, people love reading blogs!
Here are 2 Pros of starting a blog:
You meet people that are interested in the same things as you & potentially form a community around these interests
Blogging forces you to learn new skills that are in-demand right now like graphic design, SEO, affiliate & online marketing.
Read!
I have my list of 12 books to read for the year. A book every month and I couldn’t be more excited about it! The most successful people spend at least 45-60 minutes a day reading. I am not saying read 10 books a week but being an avid reader can expand your mind to many possibilities. A few books on my list this year…
Atomic Habits by James Clear
Slight Edge by Jeff Olson
Broke Millennial by Erin Lowry
Get your finances in order
A huge goal of mine is setting a budget and sticking with you! I want to pay off all my debt in the next two years so that means budgeting so I am able to do so. An important part of keeping your personal finances in good shape and getting yourself out of debt is by organizing your finances. Automate your bills, create a budget, set up a system that works for you whether it be a spread sheet or using an app and start saving if you can. Even if you put away $5 a week, at least you are starting somewhere!
Learn how to Cook
Instead of spending on takeout, trying getting your cook on. 2020 was the most I ever cooked and I actually started to enjoy it. (If only someone could come clean the kitchen after). You don’t have to start with gourmet meals but finding a few recipes that are easy and delicious could be the start of something new for you!
Make a bucket list and devise a plan to knock everything off the list!
Who doesn’t love a wish list! Want to see the Pyramids? Go up in a Hot Air Balloon? Get another degree? Do it! This gives you the chance to re-evaluate what you want out of life and figure out how to get it. Once you speak these things into the universe, be ready because the universe will hear you and make room for those goals to happen.
Happy Planning! Thanks for reading Fam!
